Sudan, another failure of Islam?

lebanon resorts
Andrew T2 asked:

With thousands dying in Sudan and the Islamic government unable to address or prevent the constant threat of starvation and with daily death and violence between different Islamic sects in Iraq, Gaza and Lebanon, isnt it time Islam was able to confront itself in a more interlectual non violent way??

We see in every act of terrorism or war Islamic involvement.

Are the Shiites and Sunnis and the other various offshoots capable of talking out their differences or do all Muslims have to resort quickly to violence to settle disputes in their religion?

Shouldnt Muslims look inwards instead of reacting violently if someone understandably criticises their violent oppresive religion.?

If it were a mature religion shouldnt the followers act in a more restrained way?

Perhaps they should observe the gentle Buddists who didnt react when ancient historic unreplacaple statues of Budda were destroyed by the Taliban?

Where ever there is islam, poverty and suffering follow closely behind… so

“Sudan, another failure of Islam? ” – Yes.

  2. SouA says:

You’ve every thing mixed up in your mind because if you’ve ever studied history you would know that Islam didn’t spread all around the world with violence but with peace and only peace and at that time Muslims were really following Islam, but today they’re not and that’s the reason why there’s corrupted governments and wars and you shouldn’t forget that western countries are playing a major role to destroy the Islamic world because they know what will happen when Muslims wake up and rule with Islamic laws again like in the beginning of Islam.

    You need some history lessons.

I tell you now that you will get the usual “it’s only the radicals” or “don’t believe the Media”.

  5. Eff E says:

islam – what can we say… it’s the religion behind all that is bad.

  6. Mormex says:

Poor ignorant, don’t confuse islam with human behaviour, Not all muslims are saints, just like not all good christians are like “bush”.
You guys started to hear about islam very late, thank your ignorance for that, islam is the number one religion in the world and growing, mainly because of people like you who try to give it a bad name but instead it gives it a free boost, because people are curious and they always find the truth at the end.

I’m yet to see Christianity make any difference to any Christian African countries.

    Mixing Politics with Religion ………..

    Get your facts straight.

It is a commandment in Islamic faith to defend the faith as told in the Qur’ an… The way to defend one’s faith is through Jihad or spiritual conflict.

They defend whatever they believe in in whatever way they can because it is their duty and responsibility.

They kill infidels who do not convert to their faith and follow their path…

Violence is sometimes the only way to defend, preach and practice the Islamic faith…

I think Christians have done their fair share of evil besides how about the Catholic pope who thinks contraception is wrong so people should get aids? ridiculous dont you think?

  12. shiraz a says:

Do you really know what Sudan is going thru or just want to blame Islam for failure of Sudan?

The media reports, sunni & shite’s are fighting among themselves. Does everyone want to kill each other for the cause of their sect? Are everyone involved in the conflict or only a few people?

It is a minority of people who do violence in the name of religion. Not everyone wants to kill. There are people who are striving to have peace & save themselves from being killed. This is whats never reported.

Killing of anyone, be it innocent Muslim or a non-muslim is condemned in Islam, so do you think they have the right to go ahead killing people?
They are blinded by power and terror & have forgotten what Islam has taught. They are killing people for the benefit of themselves, it isnt for the religion.

    & Islam hasent failed.

i think you need to stop generalising and take a more positive view on things and you need to get out more and not believe everything you hear!

  14. Sharon says:

Ofcourse, when islam is a failure then what do u expect the muslim countries and muslims are? They only know violence, shedding blood, beheading poeple, falsley accusing non muslims of blasphmey…

Muslims should really be kicked out of UK as they are spreading terror everywhere. These young somalians are killing innocent people, robbing innocent ppl FOR WHAT???

Ramadan come and they pretend to be saints… Being religious is a life long thing, do it everyday. Dont act like hypocrits. I see these muslims in the bus saying their prayers so loud. FOr WHAT BLOODY REASON. Such show offs.

Pretenders and heartless people muslims are. Voilence and corruption is written all over their faces…

  15. Sulayman says:

You’re basing this conclusion on an incorrect foundation.

Who said Sudan’s government was Islamic? American Republicans claim to be a Christian government, but is that actually the case? Does Sudan follow Islamic law, and do they have a caliph? No, so they are not “Islamic.”

Why do you interpret Sudan to be a “failure of Islam?” Should I say that Russia is a failure of Orthodox Christianity? Is war-ridden Columbia a “failure of Christianity?” Clearly you have this analogy incorrect.

There are over a billion Muslims, and a few million Sudanese. Why do you judge all Muslims by what those few Sudanese leaders do? Should I judge all Christianity by what Bush does?

I’m a Muslim and get insulted all the time. People say the most anti-semitic things to me, but I don’t react. My religion tells me to have patience and endure. It’s not violent, you’re basing that stereotype on what a few people you see on TV do, not the billions of others who abhor such horrible stuff.

  16. Tariq says:

I believe there are faults in Muslim but these are not faults of Islam. This happened only because Muslims have stopped acting upon the pios and peaceful teaching of Islam.

Islam is promise of success in this world and that. Europe have started practicing most of grand values of Islam and they have got success. Muslim though saying Islam but are far away from Islam. When they will really adopt Islam as their guide they will the morning stars of the world.

Perhaps you will be thinking that Europe have gone to height by aciting on the values of Pauline philosophy. No they were in dark and middle age when they were acting of Christian values. They have gone to height after they got contacts with muslims from Spain and Turks. That was their enlightenment and start of progress “Renaissance”. Read history of Islam in Spain and read about Suleman the Magnificient”.

  17. Investor says:

The Christian west have also had similar cases for centuries:
(The Inquisition, the 30 year war, the genocides in the new world, and many other cases!)

I don’t deny that Muslims today live a dark age. But it never been like that in the past, and it may not be in the future!

  18. iohannes says:

islam, war and poverty always go together!
think indonesia, afghanistan and yes, sudnan!

  19. whocrit says:

You’re completely biased — “Are the Shiites and Sunnis and the other various offshoots capable of talking out their differences or do all Muslims have to resort quickly to violence to settle disputes in their religion?” — catholics and protestants have been fighting for centuries. You can ask the same about them.

It’s more a failure of greedy politicians. Nothing to do with religion. Only a problem with those who believe that religion can cure everything.

  20. Simplicity says:

I get your point about being more peaceful and how to react in situations BUT I must say that these people are individuals and they don’t represent Islam as a whole nor do they represent all Muslims worlwide. At the early stages of Islam, the Muslims were tortured, persecuted, humiliated and killed. Prophet Muhammad PBUH, himself was tortured and humiliated. How did these early Muslims react? They were patient and endured much. The Prophet himself forgave all of his enemies. These early Muslims are our examples of Islam.
So, you shouldn’t blame or **** a religion based on how some people practice it.

  21. Acid says:

Sorry pal but you are just a nerd who get to know what the newspaper says.

Shia and Sunni fighting – Or US Agencies creating a mess b/w them?

By the way whats how economy is running e.g. In Sudan got to do with a Religion failing or winning?

  22. aziz m says:

What a ridiculous question. You may as well ask: Burma another failure of Buddhism, or Basque, Angola, Haiti, Georgia, Mexico, Ecuador – Another failure of Christianity??

The reality is the war in Sudan has been raging for decades in different names and has absolutely nothing to do with Religion – its entirely political. So lets re-arrange the question:
The war in Sudan, another failure of the Sudanese government? – YES!!

Then one has to ask, the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and countless other countries – Another failure of the US Government? – YES!!!!

  23. openyoureyespeople! says:

maximus …is there not poverty and suffering in south africa? india? new orleans? go back to school mate
