Hello all i was thinking about getting a ps3 from the US
i live in Lebanon but my cuz went their for a vacation and i told him to get me one from best buy
the problem that in Lebanon the electricity is like Europe (different from the US) 220 V in the Us its 110V
so if i get the ps3 will it work or should i need any other appliance to make it work

yes you need to get a plug changer thingy in europe
Even having an adapter will hurt your ps3 in the long run. Just but one at home.
your ps3 will work but you games might not.
most games have region limitations encoded on them like movies ,there are some that you can play on any system and some that you may only be able to play on a system encoded with that region
so there might be games that you buy in Europe that might not work on a US system
The debate is whether or not you need a voltage converter. Some say you need one, some say you don’t, me included. I’ve seen many success stories of all US PS3 models working overseas and I’ve had a couple buddies confirm certain models. It doesn’t hurt to be safe, though. You’ll need a voltage converter of at least 500 watts if you decide to get one. I’ve heard of converters less than 500 blowing up when used with the PS3.
As for the discs, all PS3 games are region free, but if you’re using an SD TV, some PAL games may have a problem running on the NTSC console. Refer to these links:
My PS3 is rom US, I live in Russia (PAL). To be on the safe side – get a good (500 Watt) converter. If your TV is SDTV – make sure it supports NTSC signal (99% of games will run). On HDTV PS3 will play all games. But DVDs won’t run (so as games from older systems). Most of Blu-ray movies are region free, though.
